I didn't know where you were going with this... but yeah, I wouldn't let my children see it. I have read the books but haven't seen the movies and it's totally NOT for kids. Nothing in the story line is aimed for little ones. I think it's aimed for young adults--which to me, isn't even early teens. Actually, I don't even watch many pg-13 myself so I probably wouldn't even let my 13 year old see it (if I had one...)
I can't believe she is saying kids at school are watching it! They're so young.
Maybe they have older siblings and watch it with them?
