Also, if you are interested in futuristic kind of novels, like the Uglies series, you could try Terry Pratchett's discworld series.
If you want vampire-themed romance, you can't really beat Linsay Sands.
Then, just to throw out my personal faves (not sure if these are in your chosen genre or not, but they're pretty cool novels), anything by Haruki Murakami pretty much rocks my socks. He's very... different, in a cool way. One book (Kafka on the Shore) has a guy who talks to cats- and they talk back. Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World was good, too. The books are a bit harder to follow, because the chapter one is one character, chapter two is another, chapter three is back to the first character, etc. The stories always intersect, though. Definitely cool books.
