Whenever I felt like ripping my DH's head off (or felt myself "losing control") I went to the kitchen and ate some grapes, apples, banana's, ect. I made myself take a time out, cool down and enjoy a snack. We did find out later that I had a sugar issue where it would be really high and then just drop & that was contributing to my temper.
If a snack didn't do it then I took a bubble bath, read some pages of whatever book I was reading or just put my Ipod on and jammed out. Thankfully DH knew that when I did these things I was trying to avoid being a total b*tch to everyone so he kept the kids away and gave me my space.
