Jen, thanks for sharing your experience. I used to paper scrapbook and remember I tried a knife a couple of times that I borrowed from my friend. I didn't not like it, but didn't love it enough to ever go buy one. However, that being said, I never really had to cut out any kind of elements like hybrid projects would require. I'll definitely keep that in mind if I suddenly find myself exploring the hybrid world more thorougly. I definitely see how a good knife would get smoother lines towards a scissor.
