
La, it sucks that you have to be on the meds but at least you have an official dx. I know it's tough adjusting to something like this though.
My DH Rob is 35 and has been on Coumadin/Warfarin since he had open heart surgery to repair his aortic stenosis when he was 18 and after this long (almost 17 years) it's just an everyday thing for him for the most part. We started dating about 10mo before his surgery so I've been with him from the beginning. He sees his cardiologist 2x/yr and goes into the lab monthly for a pro-time so they can make sure his meds are at the correct amount (from what I understand this is really important to keep up with). There have been a few times over the years it's been a pain, like when he tore his Achilles tendon and needed surgery to repair it but they couldn't do the surgery right away. They had to wean him off his meds first and then I had to give him Lovenox injections for several days before they could do the surgery and he could go back on his meds.
I know your situation is a bit different from Rob's but maybe someday there will be some wonder drug that will be much better than what's out there now!
