I sleep terribly without white noise. And I need A LOT of white noise. Our fan in our room sounds like a jet engine!
Both of our boys also have fans running in their room although I'm not sure they NEED it (well, they might now that they've had them all of their lives), but I like knowing that any other household noises are not going to wake them.
