Seriously, that Portlandia stuff cracks me up. I can't wait to watch some more, I saw it was on Netflix. Can't decide if I fully love the weirdness of it all or not... I guess if that's pretty true it might explain some of the things that have puzzled us about the job market there.

LOL, it's a pretty extreme take on all the weirdness. I was definitely LOL as I watched it though because so much of it reminds me of Austin.
But I totally agree with Kim, if Portland is anything like Austin, it prides itself on being weird, but in reality is much more normal than they'd probably like to admit. Austin has it's weirder areas but for the most part it's like any other city. And really I'd call it more alternative/progressive than weird. But I'm from the Santa Cruz, CA area so my bar for weirdness is pretty high, haha.
