The larger number accounts for the instances where I posted my pages to multiple galleries, so it's inflated. If I post to the Sugarbabe and a designer gallery, it's counted twice in that number. If you look at the member gallery view it will give you the number of unique images
If you click on the 769 hyperlink, it takes you to the member gallery for the user.
