Oh yeah, basements are a very good idea to have where I live.... we have 2 "tornado seasons" a year and the 2nd one is coming up. I have a chair, a tv hooked to cable and a lantern down there so I can settle in if needed. Oh, I do grab a blanket as well since it can get cold down there!

No basements here but we have the 2 "tornado seasons" thing. We've talked about adding a "safe room" if/when we ever get to build a home.
