This just happened to me a few months ago - I've gone through 3 or 4 EHD's over the years. I bought a Samsung SSD.
As for Backblaze, I've used them for years now, and each time my EHD has gone bad, I request an EHD with all of my files - once it arrives, I move everything from their EHD to my own and send theirs back. Well worth the yearly cost!
