Default Advice from Homeschool Moms -- Unit Studies?

So I'm not considering homeschooling my kids long-term but they are out of school until at least May 1 and possibly/probably until the new school year in mid-August so I am looking for advice on a couple of unit studies I could pick up to give them something educational to do in the meantime.

They have worksheets and online work from school to do but I'd love to have something that both the 5yo and 10yo could do that's more hands-on and less screen-y. I am *not* interested in creating one from scratch or doing a bunch of grading or report-creating. I don't mind spending some money on something worthwhile but since this is a temporary stop-gap, I don't want to invest in an entire curriculum.

Can you recommend something like this to me? I'm a little overwhelmed at all the online choices. While we are Christian, the faith-based curricula I've found so far is too conservative-leaning for me to feel comfortable using it with my kids.

Thanks for any help you can give!
