Oh, goodness, Kate, you poor thing!

Its really hard for the ER docs to see the full injury right afterwords. It happened to me and to my son. With him, he kept holding his leg at the knee and when they took an xay they took the top of his leg and saw nothing, but put it in a removable cast and made an appointment. When we went to that one, they discovered he actually broke it right above his ankle, but being only 3, he didn't really understand. With me, the ER just told me I had a really bad sprain in my ankle. The first doctor just went with that, then when I still wasn't able to put any weight on it 4 weeks later, just told me to walk on it anyway. I got a new doctor who discovered not only was it one of the worst sprains he had seen without tearing like you actually did do, but I had also broken the ankle, sprained my foot in 2 spots and pulled the calf muscle and it made total sense not to be able to put any weight on it yet. Anyway, hope you feel better soon!
