Ugh, my kids do this ALLLL the time. I've given up buying my kids video games because they either a) lose them; b) wreck them; c) break them; d) leave them all over the house until they are lost/wrecked/broken. ARGH! Video games are NOT CHEAP. They're not allowed to touch the Wii without an adult because they just don't care.
They're like this with their toys too, but we rarely buy them new toys now anyhow. I need to go through them all and get rid of the junk (broken toys - likely more than half, and toys where most of the pieces are missing), get rid of the stuff they're too old for and/or don't use anymore, and then just let them keep a handful that they like.
