You know, now that I am thinking about it, it could just be this.
I went from a 2008 Dell, to a 2010 MacBook, to the newest MacBook Pro. The fact that maybe it is just the screen hadn't even occurred to me. Larger layouts look fine, and the ones I size for Instagram look fine. But those are 1800x1800 at 300 dpi.
