Default September 2011: Scrapper's Portfolio & Tracker

Hey Ladies!

It’s September and we are back to school! September is one of my most favorite months – the weather starts to cool, my anniversary is this month and we always head to the orchard for some apple picking! We have a fabulous list of challenges for you this month. Here’s hoping September is your month to complete the portfolio!

For ease of reference, we've created a printable checklist of this month's portfolio. Click the link below to download and print.

September 2011: Sweet Shoppe Scrapper's Portfolio & Tracker

As always, you MUST use primarily Sweet Shoppe products to complete your challenge layouts.

One Point Tasks - 20 Primary Points Possible
1 - Lift a portfolio layout by one of the Sugar Babes! This month the Sugar Babes created pages based on this September Portfolio. These layouts can be found in the gallery or rotating on the site’s home page. Your challenge is to lift one of the Babes' portfolio layouts!

2 - Quote Inspiration! Create a page that uses this quote as inspiration. “The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning.” -Jiddu Krishnamurti

3 – 365 Days of Bliss! We’ve been sharing 365 Days of Bliss on the blog with you. Create a page inspired by one of the blissful posts found on the blog!

4 – Color inspiration! Create a page that is inspired by this color palette.

5 – Academic Challenge! Use the definition of a word on your page with all the phonetic pronunciations included. Here’s a dictionary and an example definition.

6 – Ad Inspiration – create a page based on this ad.

7 – What’s your headline? Use this Old Newspaper Typewriter font in a LO & tell us all about it!

8 – Neopolitan Challenge – Choose three layouts from Nikki’s gallery and use one item from each page to inspire a new page!

9 – Lift-A-Babe – here’s your chance to lift the fabulous Heather!

10 – September is a month for apple picking. Create a page or project that has an apple on it somewhere! Check out one of the many school kits in the store for apples you can use on your page!

11 – Raid your favorites folder, your Pinterest board or your stash of magazine clippings for inspiration be it color, style or composition, whatever sparks your own design. Remember to credit what you used & why when you post your layout!

12 – September 4th is Newspaper Carrier Day. Create a page designed like a newspaper page. Misty's templates are an easy way to get started!

13 - One Little Word Challenge: Now! Scrap a layout based on that word (use it as your title!)

14 – Choose one of the extraordinary sketches at Pagemaps as inspiration for a page.

15 – The tenth anniversary of 9-11 is this year. Scrap a page about the event & where you were on that day.

16 – Use a photo booth style strip of photos on your page. Check out this site for a photo booth strip generator!

17 - It's time for one of our steady favorites again! Paper 2 Digi! Browse April Foster’s gallery and lift one of her amazing layouts! Paper 2 Digi is always a blast and a great chance to try out some new techniques!

18 – Now is the time to get those summer or vacation pictures scrapped before the winter. Scrap a page about something that happened in June, July or August 2011.

19 – Brackets { ( [ } ) ] are a great way to draw attention to words, objects or people. Use brackets on your page to highlight words or something within the photo that may be lost without drawing attention to it.

20 - Are you keeping up with your recipe book? September is National Chicken Month! Create a recipe card featuring chicken! Need some ideas? Check out the National Chicken Council for loads of yummy recipes!

Two Point Tasks - 20 Primary Points Possible
21 - Technique – Use a large photo blended into the background of the page. Check out this tutorial to learn how.

22- Rough it up: distress your photo & papers, and take the look even further & tint the photos for that vintage feel.

23 – Two pager - often we try to cram a lot onto one page. Give your photos a bit of breathing room and create 2 pages out of an event.

24 – Use a small frame on a large photo to highlight a part of the photo similar to this.

25 – Photo inspiration – take a photo that has a reflection could be in a mirror or in water or a window. Use that photo on a page!

26 – Take a photo of someone making a heart with their hands or holding a heart shape in their hands. Scrap that photo!

27 – Labor Day - Scrap a page about all the jobs you have had in your life... what did you like/dislike about each one?

28 – Sometimes an amazing photo just speaks for itself. Scrap a page with NO title or journaling. Let your photo do the talking!

29 – Create a page any page! Then turn the page 90 degrees and use the original page as a template for the first page. 2 layouts for 2 points!

30 – It’s the 9th month of the year. Create a 9 photo layout that highlights a favorite photo from each month of the past year.

Five Point Tasks - 10 Primary Points Possible
31 - Pick 3 topics about your childhood school memories and scrap 3 layouts to earn 5 points:
31a – Who was your favorite teacher?
31b – What was your favorite subject in school?
31c – Do a page about your elementary school and your memories of the building/space.
31d – What was your favorite activity during recess?
31e – Who were some of your school friends?

32 - Life Lessons 2011 - this year SSD is encouraging you to create a Life's Little Lessons Album! One of the greatest things we can pass along to our loved ones is the stories of lessons we've learned in our own lives, so this year we're challenging you to do a little soul searching and create an album of these little learning experiences.
Pick 3 of the 5 topics below and scrap 3 layouts to earn 5 points:
32a – First impressions are completely worthless 50% of the time.
32b – Take lots of pictures. Someday you’ll be really glad you did.
32c – Being an adult can be fun when you are acting like a child.
32d – Time heals all wounds… regardless of how you feel right now.
32e - Your health is your life.

Ten Point Task - 10 Primary Points Possible
33 – Banners are super popular lately, popping up all over the place. Whether done in fabric, paper, or even tissue paper, they bring a certain something to a room or an event. Your challenge this month is to create a banner that has at least 5 pieces or pennants to it. It can be any shape and for any occasion, so have fun with it!!

Examples from the Hybrid Babes:
Colleen
Rebecca
Rebecca
Rebecca
Jen
Andrea

Flex Tip - Be Creative! If the challenge is asking for a TOP 10 of your favorite TV shows, feel free to scrap your husband's or child's favorite shows instead! If it's asking a question, feel free to ask the question of a loved one and scrap a page for them instead.

___________
DON'T FORGET! As you complete layouts for our challenges, you'll be tracking them yourself in one post that you'll update throughout the month. For September, all layouts and points need to be posted by 11:59pm EST at the end of the day on October 1st. If you're joining us for the first time this month, have a look at the amazing portfolio tracker threads from throughout the year to see how it's done!
1) Post to claim your tracker spot for the month.
2) When you finish a layout for a challenge, upload it to the gallery and right click to get the image information for your layout.
3) Return to your tracker spot you claimed in this thread, and click edit to add the image of your layout to your portfolio. You'll want to add your layout in order of the numbered list above and include that number and the points earned above your image.
4) At the very end of your portfolio, please keep a running tally of the total points earned to date.

PLEASE NOTE: Portfolio points may NOT be carried over into the following month as each month begins anew with a fresh set of inspiring challenges! Additionally, you may NOT use the same layout for more than one numbered task - each task requires a new layout. For more information, visit the Portfolio FAQ.

Please don't post chatter or comments in this thread as we'd like to keep it clean and easy to check at the end of the month. If you want to give praise to your favorite prompts or layouts, feel free to chatter as much as you like in our General Info & Chatter Forum. Thanks!!
