We had the whole "slave auction" thing in High School, also. But thankfully I wasn't ever a freshman (because I was homeschooled my freshman year) so I only ever bid on people. Basically, our school had strict rules about what we could do with our slaves. We could make them take notes for us in class, carry our backpack, wait in the lunch line for us, etc. But we couldn't really take it any farther than that. I still didn't like it. It was such an odd thing to do to raise money for the senior class.
