We used PODS (almost 10 years ago) and had a great experience. As for packing with young kids, I ended up pulling our couch and other furniture forward - away from the wall a bit. I'd slowly pack boxes and then pile them behind the furniture to keep things out of the way. Each time I'd have the time and energy, I'd just try to get one more box done.
