Kristin, if I were you, I'd get the Pixel 2. I've been a Nexus user (Google phones) for quite some time and I can definitely say those are the best in terms of OS. You always get the latest updates and pure Android version first because you know, Android is Google and Google make it available to their phones immediately.
With the Pixels now having (some of) the best cameras, I think they're the best Android choice. Only downfall is the price...to me, Pixels are overpriced as are the iPhones.
