Yes I buy name brand. Off-brand stuff drives me crazy in most cases. Glue sticks dry up before Christmas, crayons break and don't color as bright, markers dry up or the caps don't stay on after awhile. Then, yep, I'm paying out of pocket for the rest of the school year b/c the kids' parents won't replenish supplies, even if the kids need it.
So I don't do that to Luke's teachers.
