No shoes.
We have a big rug by our front door where we come in, and a shoe stand that we tuck them in. Shoes off the minute you come inside. If you're coming in from the back, shoes off once you get inside and take them to the shoe stand. (or Dad's work shoes get tucked into the laundry closet.
