I often save a layout I am going to scraplift so I can make a bare bones "template" for me to use. Usually it is for a challenge so I know who to credit. This folder gets deleted regularly so I am not keeping the layouts forever ... just for the time I need to use them. I often like to work offline (while traveling and on vacation) so having it saved on my desktop is convenient.
Nobody is saying that the layouts downloaded from the gallery are NOT yours, and you do still have the copyright. That 600x600 layout isn't going to print off that well and usually I can't even read journaling on gallery layouts.
Uploading ANYTHING to the internet (a gallery, facebook, flickr, photobucket, ect) allows for them to be seen and used by a wide variety of people. It is a risk we take by making the decision to upload to the gallery.
