On top of the regular stresses of life/work/parenthood, my ex recently had to start the paperwork for disability for his rapidly progressing Parkinson's which puts a lot of things in limbo like my kid's health insurance, child support and the very real possibility that they may lose their dad much sooner than one would normally anticipate. It kind of feels like 'it's always something' right now. A little break from life was just what I needed.
