Not weird, on either thing.
I always took different outfits for Keira when she was small and even the last time I went to Penny's for family photos, way back in 2008, DH, myself, Keira and Cooper changed outfits.
It's terrible to watch a pet suffer and start to waste away, both of our cats that we had 15 plus years, we had to have them both put to sleep. Of course they would have eventually gone on their own, but why watch them suffer.
Now, I didn't pay extra to take the remains home or a paw print, but they have memorial stones in our front flower bed.
