I think that's a good description
I like that Gatto isn't just flapping his jaw, because he's worked in the public school system for so long and knows what he's talking about. First time I read him it was a HUGE wake up call. I was like, "OH! I can do something different!" lol!
I was thinking she might like John Holt's Teach Your Own, but I've never really read it (just flirted with it at the library once) so I didn't mention it.
