So I'm assuming you'll take 5 or 99 up to 80 and then head towards SAlt Lake City. We've done that drive quite often (well from Sacramento over) and I gotta admit that it can be a bit boring. (Especially between Reno and Salt Lake). You will want to stop at Donner Summit and the Salt Flats - which are both direct exits off the freeway.
