I use that recipe too, but I do not put the bacon on top. I don't see any difference in taste/moist.
I sometimes use this recipe too:
Aunt Peggy's Meatloaf (Paula Deen) - she asks for vidalia onion in the recipe, but I use any kind of onion I have in hand. I don't have a clue about what a vidalia onion is... LOL
