When I don't feel like scrapping, then I just don't. I read books or do whatever else I want to/need to do. When you have a lot on your plate and you're just not feeling it, then take a step back for a bit. Have a break, look after you, and come back to it later when you feel ready.
As for feeling overwhelmed, maybe it's a good time to prioritise what's really important, and just let the rest go. E.g. Just have easy meals (eggs on toast, or something just as simple) for a while, do the bare basics in housework, cut back on extracurricular activities etc. Learn to say no.
