I don't think you're crazy at all. I have thought about re-doing my old paper scrapbooks!! I talked to my kids (all adults now) about it, and they asked if they could keep the paper ones, too. LOL! Kind of defeats the purpose, but if they want to lug the old ones around, that's fine.
