My method is very similar to yours, I use PSP x9 - I open all the elements I want to use (which open in a seperate tab), then I open the paper(s) I want to use (I do papers last because the program automatically goes to the last item in the list after I close a tab that I no longer need). The only thing I do differently, is that I wait until the very end to do my shadows, I find if I move and resize things after a shadow the image distorts, so I just wait until the end.
