Considering I travel 50 miles just to shop someplace besides Wal Mart, I'm willing to go the distance to meet online friends.
I flew to Detroit a few years back to meet some friends from a mommy board but I'd prefer to drive because I hate flying. 300 miles is probably the furthest I can manage in a car but Amtrak stops only 20 miles away so I can theoretically go to Boston, New York or other major cities on the east coast.
