As I was researching to decide what size monitor I have room for, I came across a chart showing how far you should sit from each monitor size. I can't find it again right now, but IIRC for a 24" monitor it recommended 50-60 cm and for each successive size you added an additional 10 cm. I did manage to find a more detailed chart
