I mostly read paranormal/fantasy type books. I read to take my mind off reality, and these fit the bill. They're often fairly shallow, but they do the job.
I just finished re-reading the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlene Harris. I think it was close to 10 years ago that I originally read it.
I started reading the Anita Blake series from Laurel K. Hamilton. These are a little more gory than I'm used to, so I'm not sure if I'll stick with them.
