Yikes, that's a tough situation. I hope you can figure out something, and they won't need to move in with you in a few years. But, I agree with the above. . .you can't change them.
Maybe tell them that you and your kids have decided to donate to more needy children and give away most of what they buy them. That might get them to think twice about their extravagant purchases.
