Default Today is Earth Day

So I try every day to be earth friendly, but today I focused even more. I just wanted to see what everyone did today!

lets repost and see what all we did for our planet today!

My oldest son made a bracelet today at school. Each color bead represented something to do with earth. Like water, people, plants, soil, air, etc. It was a cute idea for the kiddos I thought.

For myself, I do try to be earth friendly on a daily basis. We have started using those funky looking light bulbs today. I have been thinking about getting them for awhile, and thought why not today?!

I meant to go to Target and pick up some of their reusable shopping bags (Stacy J posted about them on her blog today, and I'd been thinking of getting some anyway ) but then I realized that making the extra trip would be wasting gas and be the opposite of the earth day spirit, lol.

my contribution?? I stayed home today and did laundry using some phosphate-free laundry soap!! I also loaded the rest of the recyclables into the back of my van to head down to the recycling bins when use the van next.
Next week, my Brownies are doing a spring clean-up walk (since we couldn't do it last night without me there) to help clean up the community.

Sadly, I only sat on the computer most of the day, and then went and got my taxes done. Nothing to help mother nature at all

Well I didn't buy gas today and we haven't got anywhere but work and school and don't plan to for the rest of the week. That's a help I guess

Bought a canvas bag to help reduce the amount of plastic bags we use. And I refilled the plastic 17oz plastic bottles with water from the tap. Unfortunately, this may be our last refill as one had a pin hole.

I really need to get some recycling bins set up. The county just makes it so damn difficult to recycle.

I did nothing out of the ordinary - I used my reusable bag when I went to the grocery store, didn't take a bag at the scrap store, etc.

Thanks so much everyone I love to hear all the stuff everyone did.

We tried at the salon to give a discount to people who wouldn't use a bag.... and people actually got mad! They were like whatever give me a bag!

I love the idea of the reusable bags. I didn't know target had some I'll have to check that out.

Target has the reusables in their Dollar spot - I know one can fold and zip up the size of a wallet.
I will say my only issue with many of those types of bags is that they are not truly washable, which limits their life span especially if you use them for certain groceries. I use something called "Envirosax" - they're a bit pricey, but they are cool looking and are washable. You can get them at www.flight001.com (by request, my mom got the 5 pack for me for Christmas). I love them!

We were suppose to go to the park and help plant trees, but everyone is sick here (well except me) so that was a no go

Does this count....
I've found a way to recycle the insane amount of catalogs I receive! I'm using them for my hybrid projects and they are the PERFECT work mat. I'll pass on my method for anyone's who interested! LOL
