Journaling?
Outside of scrapping, do you journal?
My parents kept journals through the years, I have all of them, dating back to the 1940's, up through the 2000's. I really enjoy reading the torn, yellowed pages. They journaled about things they did each day, places they went, people they saw. They also jotted down the prices of gas, bread, etc. I have often thought about doing something like that, but just never have taken the time to start. Do you do anything similar?

I don't journal. I've thought about it before as well, but it's not really my thing.

I have purchased journals and notebooks in the past to use as journals, but they are so pretty I hate to use them! LOL!

No, I do not, and I do not plan to start. I've bought a few pretty journals, too, and I don't use them either! LOL! Now that I think about it, I had two diaries when I was in middle school and high school. I'm not even sure where they are. They may be in the attic. LOL

My big issue is that I journal best on the computer, with a full keyboard, and not by longhand... but I love all the pretty notebooks!
I get frustrated writing by hand for two reasons: my fibro pain kicks in fast and I get hand cramps, and I can't write fast enough to keep up with my brain. On the other hand, I've been clocked typing 120wpm. When I journal by keyboard, it works great. ...but I've got a dozen entries over the years that say something like, "I'm going to start journaling regularly, and this time I mean it..." So, yeah. Consistency. But I like using the Day One app when I do manage to journal. |

I used to journal when I was young, up until high school, I think. Afterwards, I journaled on blog for several years, but now, I stopped. I do it mostly on scrapbooking pages.

Jill, I have the same types of pages/information from my Great Grandmother's journal and I love reading them.
I don't keep a journal myself. I would like to keep a bullet journal to keep organized, but have never gotten organized enough to try to get organized. LOL I did keep a type of journal that I thought was pretty neat when my son was young. From one birthday to the next, I would jot down notes of milestones and important events, then just before his birthday, I would sit down and write him a letter talking about the past year's events, his growth and accomplishments, etc. I also included some current events and how they impacted us and my thoughts and dreams for him at each age. I kept them all and planned to give them to him when he was older, like at his graduation or something. He found the stash when he was 14, so I let him open them then and he loved them. He said it was the neatest, and nicest, thing I could do for him because all the memories were right there in my voice. He liked it so much, he intends to do it for his own children, but hide the letters better. LOL

I love the concept of journaling but when I try to do it I realize how much I hate my handwriting and how bad is my spelling, etc. I’ve try so many times to work on my handwriting and it’s just gets worst. :/ my brain goes faster than my hand and it frustrates me. I’ve tried doing it in the computer/phone… and at the end of the day I’m too tired or I’m like… what did I do today? I don’t remember…. Maybe when my season changes… when Jake leaves for college. My mom kept a journal of sorts when I left for school.

What an amazing treasure to have!
I've never journaled...I even have a hard time journaling on my scrapbook pages! Any time I start to write (or type), my brain freezes. I wish that weren't the case. |

Not any more.
When I was in junior high, high school and early college I kept journals... I would write pages and pages... Every now and then I think of starting again. A couple times I even wrote once or twice, but then never did anymore. My grandmom used to keep a journal and write the events of everyday!! It was her routine every night after dinner was cleaned up she would sit in her recliner and write the events of the day. |
