Default My poor little guy

He comes up from down the street just now, with his "friend". I am not a fan of this friend anyway, but I put up with him because Benjamin seems to like him.

They come up, with friend's father parked outside, asking if Benjamin can come to the playground with him. I say ok, and got him a change of shoes and a water (since it's hot today). He goes to go outside, and the father DRIVES AWAY, and goes on down the street and off to the playground. They ASKED if Benjamin could go with them, WAITED for him to be ready (literally 2 minutes), and then LEFT HIM in the driveway.

I'm so pissed off at these people. The kid is rude and arrogant, I've never really liked the father going way back, but COME ON! They left him in the driveway. My boy is heartbroken. I'm so sad for him.

zomg. I would have a definite "talk" with that guy. That's complete b.s.
(not in front of the boys, of course, because it would be one of my kind of talks)

I would definitely not put up with that kind of behavior, from now on, I think his friend should spend time at your guys' house so you know that Benjamin is being treated properly.

What a jerk. Now I'm sore, too.

Ugh, I know, right? This guy is one of those, who thinks his kid is best at everything, is awesome, never misbehaves. The kid is EXACTLY like his old man, to a tee.

I am just shaking my head because they waited for him to be ready and THEN they left? What is up with that?

Since we've dealt with some misbehaviour and arrogance from the friend before, I truly believe the kid and his parents don't have a clue. I have cut the friend off before, but somehow a couple of weeks later, he ends up on my trampoline. Grrrrr

One doesn't need to have kids to realize what a jerkface the father is. I'm so sorry for Benjamin, it was just rude.

Aww, poor little guy. I would tell his parents that if they are going to do stuff like that to your son then their son is not allowed at your house....

Still though, it is hard to explain to a little kid why they can't play with certain other kids...

Aww poor Ben! What a jerkface that guy is, sounds like his son isn't much better. But to leave him there after asking him to go with them, that's just wrong!

That sucks! It is possible it was a miscommunication -- e.g., the dad didn't know he was supposed to be driving both of them or something?

Maybe something happened in the two or three minutes he was getting dressed? Or there was a miscommunication of some type where the boy asked your son to go but the dad didnt realize? I would hate to think someone did that out of spite. That is very mean

Well, if I didn't know the father like I did, I could consider this as an option. But, they had to drive out of their way to come up here. It wasn't like we were on the way, we aren't. The friend was inside with Benjamin while he was putting on his shoes, so it wasn't like they were outside waiting forever for him to put on his shoes. I would like to think it was just a mistake, but I doubt it highly.

I agree with some of the other posters, he needs a special treat!! Maybe a trip to Dairy Queen is in order??

That is absolutely terrible! I'd be pressing the issue on Benjamin just so he realizes that isn't right and how he could find friends that treat him better than that. Kristen has had some friends that annoy me and really, the only reason she plays with them is because there isn't anyone else to play with.

No kidding! I'm still ticked.

I think the problem is, there is really NO ONE else for him to play with. He knows this, so he puts up with a lot more than he should. I keep trying to tell him that he is worth being treated so much better than that, but he's 7, kwim? He just doesn't get it yet.

That is freakin rediculous!!! OMG, I would be so mad! I'd definately make sure he gets a little special treat. Stuff like that really crushes kids, I don't know what he was thinking, but that's unexcusable!
Hope your little guy is feeling ok!!

It's a nice clear night so Tony took out the telescope and let him stay up super late (it's almost 10 pm here now) so hopefully that will help some. I hope that little brat doesn't show up here tomorrow. I have had to ban him from the yard before, and he's getting cut off again now.

My daughter was like that when she was that age too. The little girl across the street was so mean to her. I would get so angry at this little girl and tell my daughter not to play with her or tell the little girl she needs to go home. The little girl would say things like "your dress is so ugly" or "my barbie is better then yours, yours is ugly" or "if you dont let me play with that Im going to take mine and go home" Then it escalated to her being violent with my daughter. I would tell her mom about it and she would say things like "what do you want me to do about it?" Ummmm discipline your daughter or better yet explain why it is wrong to treat a friend like that? It never happened and they eventually were not only not friends anymore but she ended up beating my daughter up pretty badly because my daughter ignored her when she was calling her names. I told her it was better to just ignore the girl and that was what happened. If he realy is that bad and is mean to your son it probably would be better to cut it off now while he is still young and try to get him involved with other children at a play group or from school or something then to risk it escalating and having your son's self-esteem suffer from having a "friend" be so abusive towards him

It might be a "blessing" ... this way neither you or your son need to give these people the time of day.
He is too young to learn the "hard" part of life ... poor dear.
