Default Can someone PUH-lease tell me

why my 3 year 8 month old POTTY TRAINED son is suddenly having accidents on a regular basis? We're talking poo poo on the playground, in our friends' living room, in the mobile phone company office, the nice restaurant...

And who can make poo poo in his underwear without his eyes getting huge, spreading his legs and saying, loud enough for mom to hear on the other side of the playground, "MOMMY! POO POO!" Like the poop on the ground doesn't clue us all in.

Seriously, he's been potty trained since MARCH and is JUST NOW having accidents. Anybody have any insight for me?

Mine did the same thing. Like a regressive behavior. We just kept reminding him that big boys potty in the toilet, and big boys get to do special things babies dont.

But you may want to clue your doc in if you find it truly bothersome. There could be an emotional/health/diet underlying issue.

It's just a little regression behavior. My son did it at four. I just told him that if he was going to potty like that, then he'd have to wear a diaper again. He would have NONE of that, so he quit.

My son is doing it too but he's almost 5

I think he's just missing me while at school (but I hope not.) I hope he just thinks he needs more attention or something.

Good luck!

I wish I could help you with this one.. I'd love for you to tell me how you got your little man to actually poo in the potty. I'm struggling with my 3yo on this. He freaks when he sits on the potty to go #2 and refuses.

I hope his accidents are a quick phase he is moving through..

Keira turned 3 in May and we still can't get her to poop in the potty. Wish I could offer some answers.

We just went through the same thing with my daughter!! And she's been trained since March too! Only, she would just have accidents at home, not in public. I don't really have any advice for you. We told her if she poops 5 times in a row on the toilet, she could stay up and watch a movie with us.

Yepp, regression. It's quite normal I believe. My nearly 5 year old girl has had regression spells too. Sometimes it's a change in routine, or as reaction to something big in their lives. Sometimes it's just because.

We went through that with DS when he'd been potty trained about 6 months or a year. It was like he just decided stopping his activity to use the toilet was too much trouble, and he was tired of it. I tried threatening diapers first, but he thought it would be funny to wear diapers like the baby, so that didn't work. Finally we got it to stop by taking away his tv time on any day he had an accident. It took several days of him missing tv before he got over it and started using the bathroom again, and even so we had to be pretty vigilant (making him go when we thought he needed to) for a few weeks. After that it was like it never happened. Good luck!
