i don't have this newer one, but we have the older one without a flip screen. Chloe loved it. it has since quit working. didnt have it but for about 6 months or less, i can't remember when we bought it. we had problems with the console v tech game system too. bought one, quit working. took it back. bought another one. quit working. that's when i bought the handheld one. like i said, it worked for awhile and chloe (5 almost 6) loved it. Amazon has a lot of reviews on stuff and a lot of people seem to have similar problems with VTech stuff. i'd check it out before i bought it. don't wanna waste your money. maybe they have improved their products, but i think i'll stick with Leap Frog stuff!

We have a vsmile console and my kids loved it at first, but since we've gotten the Wii and they have a GameCube AND DS's, it's ignored for the most part. Once in a while I hear the music and know that Mason must have switched it all out from the GameCube to the vsmile on their TV in the playroom. We've got I think 7 or 8 games, and they ARE very educational. I may buy them a few more games and see if they'll pick it up again, lol...

We thought about getting the handheld (it works with the same game cartridges) for Natalie for our trip to California, but decided in the end to get a DS which she would grow INTO instead of out of, kwim. Especially since Mason was getting a DS for the trip.

Yeah, my kids play with the V_Smile ESO but not as much as I would like!!! We have a PS2 and they each have Gameboy Advanced things but I like the educational part of the Cyber Pocket ESP if it uses the same cartirdges as the V-Smile
