today was the Children's Christmas Pageant at church. While singing one of my sons sticks his hands down his pants, I try like mad to make eye contact with him from my pew to get his attention to get him to stop to no avail. Next thing I know my son's penis is on display for the whole congregation to see. It was just a flash and lasted about as long as a finger snap but there it was.
![]() Afterwards I calmly talked to him about why that happened and he told me that his penis was hurting cuz it was getting bigger. I calmly told him and his brother that the only time they should touch their penis is when they are going potty or when taking a shower or bath to clean it. And that no one but mommy & daddy should ever see their penis. He wasn't even aware that he did it and even though my eyeballs likely popped out of my head when it happened I wasn't embarrassed and didn't freak out about it. I mean he's a boy and he's 4 so what could I have done? SIGH, the joys of raising boys!

having little boys is so much fun LOL. I remember my son dropping his swim shorts on the beach when he was about four because "they were filled with sand". I was so embarrassed.

Ack, lol! Sounds like you handled it wonderfully, though. I recently had to have "that" talk with my kids because they were bathing together (6 year old boy and 4 year old girl) and I caught my daughter touching him. It was just a "nobody other than mommy and daddy gets to see/touch your ___" speech, but sheesh! We stopped them bathing together or even being in the bathroom when the other is bathing or going to the bathroom.

I would so much rather be dealing with this right now than my son who is entering puberty and the issues around that.

aaaahahahahahahaha!! That is hilarious! Cameron put his hands down his pants two years ago during our church's x-mas play and I was MORTIFIED. Everyone else thought it was funny.
But, like Samara said, I would much rather deal with this stuff than the puberty-age boy stuff. I'm terrified of that age with two boys. ![]()

I am totally *lol*ing as that is something my FI's 3yo nephew would do.
In the last few months, FI's nephew took one of his teddy bears, stuck it between his legs, and proudly told his mom that he had a big p**is. His mom was so shocked and also hysterically laughing that I'm not sure she even managed to say anything at all besides telling him not to do that anymore. |
