Thumbs up Renting books...

I came across this site whilst reading the latest issue of Body & Soul and thought it was a pretty cool concept, I wish they had it here! LOL My library is just around the corner from me, but there is always wait times on new books and of course late fees if you forget to bring a book back. I bet it would be especially cool for people who live out in the middle of nowhere though..anyways just thought I would share!!

It looks simliar to booksfree.com. I was a member there (until Ella was born and I lost all time to read lol) It's really convenient..especially when you live out in the country like me..about 40 miles from the nearest library. It works pretty much just like netflix except it's books intead of movies.

That's pretty cool. I would be tempted to try it except it's for the US only (and military).

BUT my library system is pretty cool and I'm not too far from it, so it's OK...lol.

I'm actually thinking about signing up for this. I live in a tiny town of like 3000 people and the library here is the size of my livingroom (literally) and they have nothing for selection.
The only thing that's stopping me is the shipping times. 10 business days!?

That is a lot but..I had the 4 books at a time deal..so you finished 2 and sent them back..so while they're en route and your new ones are heading back you still have 2 at home to read. I always had a book in hand that way kwim?

http://www.paperbackswap.com/index.php

my mom found this website and RAVES about it! She's got a huge wish list set up, getting books for my kids and sisters along with herslef, and it is a great way to find good homes for books that we don't want sitting around anymore. I always hate keeping books around but you know you spend good money on them. She's even started swappoing DVDs also, since dh got the Blueray player we've been slowing cleaning out our DVD collection.

it says all you need is a valid email, USPS mailing address, plus it is free - you just pay media mail postage. you are collecting 'credits' for swapping your books and use those credits to get books from other people.

Ok I signed up at Booksfree.com.
I did the 4 book deal. I figure it'd cost less than driving 30 mins each way to the library once a week.

I did booksfree.com for audiobooks for about a year. They had a really fast shipping time - maybe 3 days and they had good cs

I use BookMooch, which is very similar. The only difference is that you can get books from around the world (I can't sign up at PaperbackSwap).
