Default speaking of losing teeth...

What age did your kids lose their first teeth?? My oldest lost one and has another loose tooth, and the hubby thinks it seems crazy early....he's 5....so I was curious...

Oh gosh, no 5 isn't too early. MOST kids start losing around age 5 or 6. Some even earlier at age 4. My daughter was VERY late eruption as a baby (didn't get her first tooth til 13 months). So because of that, she's also very very slow to lose them. She didn't lose her first one til the end of 2nd grade (so she was 8 years old). Even now at age 11, she's only lost 9. We're about to hit a period here soon where she'll lose several more.

I've had patients who are her age who have all of their adult teeth at this point though.

She's gonna be on of the unfortunate kids who will have braces in high school (anymore, a LOT of kids are out of braces in jr high, so graduating HS with braces is definitely not the norm). But she won't even be ready to have them until at least 9th-10th grade at this rate.

I tried to tell him I thought it was normal! LOL! He got his first teeth pretty early so it makes sense I guess!

My BIL said he lost his teeth really late too and had to do the braces in HS as well.

Lily was 4.5.. I feel really bad for her because she has lost lots of her teeth and her mouth just isn't big enough and they aren't fitting in She lost her two teeth beside the top ones months ago (in addition to the front teeth) and the adult ones on the side are still working their way down.. sideways. There just isn't enough room in there

And just to add to Libby's post my oldest is 11 and she does only have one baby tooth left!!! She'll be getting her braces this fall (Octoberish) and will probably be out of them in a year to 18 months!!!

Logan just lost his first tooth last Friday and he is 6 years 2 months old. And his other front bottom tooth is loose so he will lose it within the next few days.

My oldest son Jacob was late to get braces because they were waiting for his last molars to come in before the braces. It's not the end of the world! Jacob got his taken off at the end of his sophomore year.

We just started losing teeth at our house in April and Sydney turned 7yrs. in January! Livia's gonna be 6yrs. in September and has no loose teeth.

All of my kids were "late" teethers, 12mos.+, so they say it's common to lose them late too.

DD was a month short of her 6th bday when she lost her first tooth, and subsequently lost three more within a couple of weeks. DS is 4 1/2 and lost his first tooth a couple of weeks ago.

Kristen lost her 2 front teeth in an accident when she was 3 1/2 and is finally getting them back in at 7 years old. She lost her first bottom teeth naturally (2 in one day) when she was 5 3/4.

Jason was 5 in October, and he's already lost 4. He was also an early teether. He got his first tooth at 3.5 months.

Mason just got his first real wiggly tooth (not counting the 2 top teeth that got knocked a bit loose by an elbow to the mouth at school...they don't wiggle much at all) and he's 6.5.
