Default Back to work tomorrow :(

Well, it's that time again- back to school tomorrow for all the Austin area teachers. I have a week of staff development and just a few days to get my stuff moved out to a portable building and get set up before kids start next Tuesday. I prefer "cabin" to portable- sounds more fun- and at least we can be loud without bothering anyone out there.

I'm ready for MY kids to go back, but could use another two weeks of actual vacation! For some reason, no one will pay me to stay home... but it's been fun playing SAHM even if for a short while.

I've had so much fun (and support for that matter) here in the SSD forums this summer- this is why I love it here so much! How will I live during the day without SSD and Facebook? LOL! Once my students start I'll be too busy to think about it, but this week sitting through staff development, I'll miss hanging out here.

I'll "see" you all in the evenings and weekends... and Austin area gals- we're thinking of planning a get-together so keep an eye out!

I'm a Reading Resource teacher and two years ago our office was in a portable wwwwaaayyy in the back of the school and there was a pond right behind our portable - we called it our "lakeside retreat"

I went back last Monday. School starts tomorrow, but since I teach pre-K we do it a bit different -- parent/teacher conferences Monday and Tuesday, then we start with staggered attendance on Wednesday. Everyone will be there a week from Tuesday. I really am not fond of teacher report week -- a whole week of meetings, when what I want to do is be with kids -- but this one wasn't bad.

Hope all the teachers here have a great school year!

Yeah, I feel your pain. I was back last week, my son starts tomorrow, and my school starts on wednesday (but we're testing Mon. & Tues. all day).

*sigh* Where did summer go?

My DH officially went back last Monday for training and inservice and all that, but he spent most of the week before that in his classroom working with his para on getting things unpacked and all organized again. His first day with students is tomorrow and then both of our girls start back on Tuesday (Kindy and 2nd)! I am so not ready for summer to be over, although I am looking forward to it just being me & the lil man at home in the afternoons while Kelsie is @ school!

My DH is a teacher and he doesn't start until 8/28 (we always start much later in comparision to other places). School doesn't actually start here until 9/9 ... but on the flip side, be lucky you have a job, it's definitely not a given in this economy

Wow I am surprised at all the teachers here! I only know 3 teachers around here that scrapbook! ...and they are paper scrappers...

Well ok technically 5...if you count my friend and I that are homeschool teachers (and I'm still the only digi one)...

Tomorrow I get to sit down and reconfigure their school laptops and get ready for the school year. Technically we have been getting in on the average about a day a week during the summer (with classes they were taking in computing and P.E.)...the kids didn't even realize it. lol ...so we're working back into it with a few 1/2 days... a trip to OK (with shhhh educational field trips) ... and then back to full time when we return. I'm NOT looking forward to it....where did the summer go? It should only be the middle of June at the latest it feels like.

My kids go to school where we live and they have 2 weeks left (8/31). I got back after labor day! LATE!

I'm gone 2 days and there are already 3 pages of posts in the forums. Hope I don't miss anything!

Got a portable now and moving stuff in- no electricity or plumbing yet though. And supply drop off is Friday 5-6:30 so it's GOTTA be presentable by then. Argh...
