all of my 2009 digi pages I have done since Jan somehow I can not get into my 2009 folder on my EHD everytime I go to open the folder it wants me to "format the G drive" ...but when I right click and check properties, allthe files are there, I just can't get to them

anybody computer savy and can tell me how to get recover them????

Oh no....last December, my EHD did the same thing....one folder at a time and not enough time to save it all. I lost 2 and half years of pictures. I was soooo crushed!! Do you have another EHD you can start transferring stuff to just in case yours is dying also??

thank god the only thing I can't get into is my digi page folder...alll my picture folders I an still get into....so I am going to transfer the to DVD today!!!!!!! I am doing a disk recovery and think I may be recovering the JPEG files, which would be OK with me, they don't have to be the PSD files as long as they are high quality, I can upload and print~ JUST frustrated

OMGosh! I hope you can recover them.

I got so paranoid of this happening, even with things being on DVD and my EHD, so I finally started uploading every layout I finish to Scrapping Simply, so they'll be there when I get ready to print. I haven't used them yet, but just read all the reviews from the gals here.

I also have a paid Flickr account, and try to remember to back up all my photos there.

I think it's important to remember that EHD and DVD's are not robust enough to be the only place to archive your photos/layouts. EHD's fail all the time. DVD's degrade over time since you're only writing data by burning the waxy part. I burned data to DVD's a few years ago and they were fine back then. But I recently tried to get something off a DVD and couldn't because it has degraded. DVD burning is not a permanent storage solution.

I think the best way is to have multiple backups: online, EHD, and DVD. And of course your regular hard drive on your computer. I really hope you can recover all your 2009 layouts Angie! :: crossing fingers for you ::

i hope you are able to recover your files...i lost layouts, pictures, kits from my portable hard drive last year...i was able to recover some of it with recover my files (i think that's what it is called)...
