Default a decade.

It's been a decade people. I've been PARALYZED for 10 years.

The time really has gone by. In some ways it seems like a different life ago and other times it still seems like it was less than 2 hours ago (which as I write this it was).

That's quite a milestone - 10 years is a long time. Are you paralyzed from the waist down and have use of your arms? I guess I don't know your story; you were in an accident? If you don't mind sharing, I'd be interested to know more.

It's weird the effect that time passed by has on us.

Do you feel like you are stronger tonday, as a person, than you were 10 years ago?

Wow! That is quite a milestone, Priscilla. I am so sorry that you have had this happen, but you have such a great outlook and attitude and you haven't let it get you down! I know that there have to have been some really difficult days and moments, but you are an inspiration!

I'll be interested to hear the story as well. I'm sorry Priscilla - I'm sure there are many difficulties that we couldn't even imagine. But you seem to be such a strong person -- I've never heard (seen) you complain at all and would not even have known except that you mentioned it in a thread a few months back.

I totally agree with you that 10 years can pass so quickly and yet, feel as times as though it was just yesterday.

I read a bit of your story on your blog and it was very inspiring. Especially since it happened at such a time in your life and yet, you have found peace and keep a positive, joyful outlook on life.

You are just amazing Priscilla.

Well Priscilla's poor little one ended up the in ER with a high fever or she'd have been back... but she's amazing! I'm so impressed with how "normal" her life is--- she does everything I do (and more-I don't cook!) It would be so easy to get depressed or complain about how much harder things can be, but she doesn't... she's an inspiration.

I know she's got a website in the works about being a wheelchair mommy too (I think she should wirte a book!)

Nope, no ER ..... for now...although DH is on his way there with his mom...she was told she has pnuemonia and lost 15 lbs. in a week or so and now she can barely move. He went to check on her and she can't get up so they called 911.

My story, copied from my blog

Quote:
So…Many of you don’t know my
entire story. I was paralyzed in a car
wreck in 1999. I was 18 and just started college. The person driving was sober but my ex-sister-in-law was drunk and grabbed the wheel. We were going around a curve and another car was coming. I was thrown out. Nope. No seatbelt. I was in the backseat. Not many adults wear one in the backseat, do they?! I never lost conscienceness and spent about 5 weeks in the hospital. That included a really long (12-15 hour) surgery to stabalize my spine. As soon as they let me, I was ready to get into therapy and learn what I had to so I could get on with my life. One thing I’ve said since the begining is I am “changed but still the same”. To this day my attitude is positive and I don’t let the injury or the scars get me down. I still do EVERYTHING I want to do…just sitting down. I have a great life and couldn’t imagine being any happier. People are always asking me how I can be so positive and I tell them it’s because I want to. I don’t get feeling sorry for myslef. What good does that do me? No, thank you. I want to live my life and enjoy it and no one is going to keep me from doing that, most of all myself. So now you know. I have all kinds of scars on my body as a constant reminder of 9-12-99, but sometimes I still “forget”. I’ll be going about my business and forget I am actually sitting until I try to reach something high up or far away. It’s quite funny, really. Flame me if you want but the Parking really Rocks, …when I can find it.-lol

Now all my dreams have come. Despite paralysis, I am a mommy!!!

I am currently working on a new blog and waiting on DH to do his side of it (besides the one in my siggie) but it will basically be the same just more for the blog world, since I self naming myself The Wheelchair Mommy

As far as a book goes .... I thought about it and then about 3 years ago I was approached by another woman in a wheelchair and she really wants to do a book so I don't want to "steal" that from her. After she write hers I may be able to write something different that's not competition if that makes sense.

I know there were other more targeted questions....I'll be happy to answer those tomorrow. Lucas keeps crying out every 15 minutes or so, so I am going to have to check on him.... it's going to be a looooooooong night with DH gone ...

Pray my MIL is ok .... 15 lbs in a week is a lot ...............................

scary.
