1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate most definitely! Or my newest addiction, vanilla chai latte.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? I usually enjoy wrapping the presents. Last year I used silver paper and printed out a freebie card as a little tag. It got me into the christmas spirit like nothing else. This year I will have most of December off, so yes I will enjoy wrapping them again.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? White! It has to be white! I know it's quite popular everywhere now, but I can't stand coloured lights on my own tree.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Nope, we don't do that at all in Germany. But spending christmas in Nothern Ireland with my BF this year. Totally hoping there will be one. Because for me that's like in the movies.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Depends on my time and stress level. I usually make it a point to not put them up before advent. So most years I decorate at the first advent weekend. This year I'm behind and will most likely do so this weekend or middle of next week.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? We change our dishes every year, so no special one. A classic childhood one would be beef roulade, last year we had a fantastic deer goulash made by my BIL.

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? The christmas when I got a Barbie sofa and played with it all christmas day.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I have no idea how old I was. But my parents started to let us help decorating the tree, when we were a bit older. Claiming we will all help the "christian child" (that traditionally brought the presents here). I was getting suspicious and told them, I think they have always done the tree. My mom confessed. Then I said: "But the presents, that weren't always you as well, or were you?" I wasn't really sure about it and mostly thought she'd say no. But she filled me in.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yep. In fact we open all presents then. In Germany we celebrate christmas eve, not christmas day.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Heavily? Our family tree has always been decorated in silver only. Now everyone does their own thing. My sister goes crazy in silver and gold. My dad sticks to silver. My mom will have her very own tree for the first time this year (I'm guessing on red). And I have done silver/white winter look or traditional red/white scandinavian look so far.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Once I drove home save and have cleared the sidewalk, I love it!

12. Can you ice skate? I can. Back in school there was a time when it was very "in" to hang out at the ice skating at the weekend.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Tough one. Looking back I think I will choose the doll's house I once got.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Family. For me it's all about family getting together and sharing the good times.

15. What is your favorite Christmas Dessert? No special one here. But we do have lots of typical sweets and cookies. I generally love cinnamon stuff.

16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? That my father still goes into the living room (he is the only one officially allowed to help the christian child) and rings a bell three times. We are allowed to go in after the third time. And he ALWAYS waits a bit longer before the third time. We all love it.

17. What tops your tree? Nothing on mine. But there was always banter between my mom and dad whether they should put up the silver ornament, my dad loves.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? The good thing about christmas is that it's perfectly balanced, so I can enjoy both.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? A very traditional German one called "Süßer die Glocken nie klingen" and from the International ones "Merry Christmas Everyone" and "Let it snow".

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Everything candy is good to me!

21 Favorite Christmas Show? An East European version of Cinderella, "Little Lord Fauntleroy" with Alec Guinness and "The Last Unicorn".

22. Saddest Christmas Song? Don't think I have any.

23. What’s your Wish for Christmas. That the next year will be a very good one. With me finding a perfect job and my BF and me hopefully enjoying living together.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate, definitely.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Yes, he does wrap them. I love the magical concept of Santa and how exciting it is for my son.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? It doesn't matter to me.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? nope

5. When do you put your decorations up? We only really put up a basic tree and its normally done the first week of December.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? I am not a big fan of holiday foods as a vegetarian, people always cram meat into everything. I do look forward to my grandma's cooking regardless though and love her rolaches, a Czech roll like thing and kolaches, Czech bread with fruit in the middle. Hard to explain.

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? I remember taking turns opening presents and getting to not only enjoy what you received, but also getting to see how excited others get for the presents they received. I also loved eating and talking at my grandma's.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I really don't remember at all.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I grew up with a dad who was a cop and not I work in the military, so we open whenever we are off work and able to get together. It might not be on Christmas day or eve even.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Heavily? Right now I just put red balls onto our pre-light tree. Maybe when my son is older it will be more of a thing.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? hate it. I live in ND, we get more than enough.

12. Can you ice skate? yes, I love it.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Not one thing stands out above others. I remember some along the years, I love pratical gifts, so they are often what I get.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Spending time with my family and making sure the holiday is magical for my son.

15. What is your favorite Christmas Dessert? pumpkin pie

16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? I don't think we have an real traditions. I love driving around looking at lights

17. What tops your tree? a bought a small santa clause last year, my tree is kinda pathetic and it was the only thing that looked like it wouldn't tip it, but I used to have an angel that I loved.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? both, of course, but I love, love, love giving when I find great gifts.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Silent Night, Joy to the World and Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? yum

21 Favorite Christmas Show? How the Grinch Stole Christmas, the old school cartoon one, Elf and Christmas Vacation

22. Saddest Christmas Song? don't know of any

23. What’s your Wish for Christmas. That my son will really get to enjoy every part of the holiday this year. Its the first time he has really gotten into it.

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate. I've never had egg nog and probably never will. It just sounds disgusting.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa wraps them. Even though Luke figured out- when he was FOUR- that Santa wasn't real. It just put everything together that really doesn't make sense (how does he get in the house... how does he get everywhere in a night... how does it sit at every mall in the world at the same time...) and figured it out. No matter what kind of excuse we made. So now it's more of a joke that "he" wraps them them sticks them under the tree.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? Definitely white.

4. Do you hang mistletoe? We do when we have it! It's hard to find around here for some reason. I stocked up one year and just put up our last one. I had no idea it was for fertility. It's obviously NOT working here, dang it.

5. When do you put your decorations up? The weekend after Thanksgiving.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? My grandma's cheese potatoes. Mmm, mmm good.

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? Lots of memories. Our annual Swedish smorgasbord at Grandma's house is a good one. The year the first Nintendos came out, my sister & I wanted one so badly. We got through all the gifts and didn't get one. We were bummed but not super disappointed b/c we knew they were hard to get. That year Christmas was on a Sunday. We were all in the car and dad "forgot" his Bible inside. It took him FOREVER to grab his Bible. When we got home, there was a gift in the fireplace. Mom said, "Huh, Santa must have found one more gift in his sleigh and dropped it off on the way back." (We were WAY too old for Santa, but she still pretended like we believed.) It was our Nintendo.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I know I believed. But I don't remember when I stopped... obviously it wasn't life shattering to know my parents lied to us all those years. Ha!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Just pajamas.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Heavily? LOTS of lights. Then I have some berry-twig things and some poinsettias. Then 15-20 red bulbs. I want to get more bulbs at the after-Christmas sales this year. It's kind of bare.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? If I'm inside looking out, I love it. And on Christmas Day I love it. Otherwise, ick. It causes lots of issues on the playground at recess. It's slippery on the roads. And it makes it hard to keep my hair straight. LOL

12. Can you ice skate? I think I've gone once in my life. I did fine, but it was boring to me. lol

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't think I have a favorite. I have memorable ones- like the Nintendo... and the Cabbage Patch Kid when they were So hard to get (luckily my uncle worked at JC Penney and was able to snag one)... but I liked most of my gifts.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? The most important thing for me and my family is to try to keep focused on WHY we have Christmas- to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

15. What is your favorite Christmas Dessert? Hmmmm... really the only dessert we have regularly are Christmas cookies. And of those, it would be my grandma's million dollar cookies or peparkakor cookies.

16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? I love doing our Christmas countdowns each year- Luke has a Lego one and then we have a family one where we do an activity of some kind as a family each day.

17. What tops your tree? The same berry/twig things and poinsettias that are scattered throughout my tree. They are just more abundant at the top.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Oh my goodness. I LOVE to give. I love to plan for the perfect thing. Shop for the best bargain for the perfect thing. And give the perfect thing. I cannot WAIT for Christmas morning. I do get a little bummed when my stocking isn't filled and I don't have any presents under the tree, though. (My husband isn't much of a giver... lol)

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Celebrate the Day by Relient K

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? I can do A candy cane. Then they're yuck.

21 Favorite Christmas Show? White Christmas

22. Saddest Christmas Song? I'm going to have to go with Darcy on this one. Christmas Shoes. It's more of a joke in our family now.

23. What’s your Wish for Christmas. Always the same..that the world will recognize the Savior in the tiny baby we celebrate at Christmas. (I'm just going to ditto Darcy on this one... oh and I also wish that Luke gets a sibling this year.)

Is it the Czech/German co-production? Because that's my fave ever as well. And I love The Last Unicorn, too. :-)

ETA: What I meant in my question was this film.

I haven't used my blog in forever so I will post it here:

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Definitely hot chocolate...especially Starbucks Salted Hot Caramel Hot Chocolate

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa wraps the presents. Ever since I was little Santa has always wrapped the gifts.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Colored Lights.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
Nope

5. When do you put your decorations up? They go up when our Christmas tree goes up which is always the first weekend in December.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Pumpkin roll...mmmm. LOVE it. My birthday is 2 days after Christmas so I don't even ask for a cake anymore, I ask for a pumpkin roll instead.

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? Waking up super early on Christmas and waking up everyone else in the house to open gifts. I didn't care if it was 4am we were getting up and opening the presents.
Later I found out that most of the time my parents had just gone to bed when I woke them up. lol.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? Honestly I was probably 13 before I found out the truth. I had a younger brother who is 6 1/2 yrs younger than me so I always thought Santa was real for him. I don't remember exactly how I just remember being really ticked that my parents lied to me all my life. lol

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? We go to my Grandmothers on Christmas Eve to open family gifts but wait til Christmas morning at my parents.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We go all out! Well at least at my parents we do. Now at my house with my SO our tree always seems so plain to me but that's because he doesn't really have many ornaments.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? LOVE IT! At least for the first few weeks. Then I hate it. And I hate it when it starts sticking to the roads and messes with my driving.

12. Can you ice skate? Barely

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? Christmas when I turned 5 was by far my favorite gift year (Yes I remember that far back) I got everything I asked for and lots of big gifts. I remember getting my bike and swingset and a ton of other things.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Spending time with my family and letting them know what they mean to me.

15. What is your favorite Christmas Dessert? Pumpkin roll...lol. Or this stuff called Sex In A Pan that my grandma makes.

16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? Even though I no longer live at home and I'm 25, I still LOVE and look forward to going with my parents and brother to get our Christmas tree and putting it up and decorating it. I do it every year. We watch Christmas Vacation while we do it too. Been that way since I was 3. And I always pick out the tree.

17. What tops your tree? An Angel that has been our tree topper since I was 3.

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Giving, although I hate the process of what to get for everyone.

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? My Grown Up Christmas List

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Yum

21 Favorite Christmas Show? How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

22. Saddest Christmas Song? Christmas Shoes

23. What’s your Wish for Christmas? For a smooth Christmas lol. It never fails that we have some drama so I really hope this year will be smooth.

Yay! The film has a cult status in former Czechoslovakia, but it's beyond cool that someone outside can enjoy it and call it their favourite one, too.

Best Cinderella adaptation ever in my opinion, all bias aside. Like, it's fun, it's smart, it doesn't age and this particular Cinderella is someone you can totally like because she so deserves her happy ending.

Heheh, guess then you will be happy to hear we enjoyed the Little Mermaid a lot as well.

And the Cinderella story is actually a classic here as well. I once saw pictures from a winter wedding and she had that caope Cinderella wore to the ball, just in white. So cool! Oh, and I own the digitally remastered DVD.

You bet I'm happy to hear that. That version of Little Mermaid is rather scary for kids, or rather, it's not for kids at all. I only learned to appreciate it as an adult, but I appreciate it a lot.

Grr!! My wireless access kept kicking me out when I was trying to post {I don't blog} but then I thought, why not do a LO & get some Challenge Pts?!?!

Here's mine:

Had to remove question number 8 since DS #1 can read and DS #2 will learn before {I think} he should know...my experience was somewhat traumatic given that I still remember 20+ years later!! My older brother was snopping the year I was 8 and told me what I was getting {one of the Barbie & the Rockers ~ I had the band stage & everything}. Anyways, guess what Santa left under the tree for me that year??

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate! About one glass of Egg Nog all Christmas Season is about enough for me.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa wraps presents, and he has his own special wrapping paper. He did this even before we had children. He even wraps stocking gifts (to have more fun opening presents of course!)

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? We hung those icicle lights last year, but they hung down in front of our door and you had to push them out of the way every time you opened the door - major PITB. We didn't hang any this year because the house was for sale and we didn't want to have to take them down in the dead of winter if we ended up moving. Now that the house is off the market I kinda wish we had done it. Long answer short, I love colored ones!

4. Do you hang mistletoe? No - but my mom and dad have a plastic one they used to hang up.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Whenever we get time! My birthday is the end of November so I don't like doing it before then, but anytime after that is game. This year we put it up on Monday (Nov. 29), last year we didn't get it up til Dec. 18th.

6. What is your favorite holiday dish? The turkey and mashed potatos with gravy. I don't need anything else. Except maybe pie (Apple or Lemon Meringue, please!)

7. Favorite Christmas memory as a child? I loved spending Christmas with my extended family, we'd always see all the cousins, aunts and uncles and it was a fun time. I remember the paper used to send out an insert with all the Christmas Carols on it and I was always so excited to get it, the one year I sat in the living room and sang all of them (to myself lol) I was so excited for Christmas to get there.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I don't remember when - I was 10 or 11 I think. I 'strung it out' for a year or so to get more presents, but I don't remember it being traumatic or anything.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes, and it's usually pajamas. I never could figure out as a kid how my mom always managed to pick THAT gift as the one we would open (for better pictures in the morning lol)

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Nothing fancy - we have a pre-lit one, so I put the beads (as garland) on first, then just place ornaments. We have a huge mix of ornaments, and we tend to get a few special ones each year and a 'family' one each year - eg the year I was pregnant we got an ornament with a male and pregnant female snowman, and got 'Merry Christmas 2007' written on it.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? Don't love it, don't hate it. I like that it covers up all the icky brown leftover from fall, but I don't like the cold.

12. Can you ice skate? Yes, but not well. I took figure skating lessons as a kid, but haven't skated since I was in University.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? I don't know that I've had a favorite of all time. My parents got my sister and I a trip to Maui one year (with them of course), and that stands out as a big one that I loved.

14. What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Spending time with family and relaxing and having nowhere else to be - it's the best feeling in the world!

15. What is your favorite Christmas Dessert? Pie! Apple or Lemon Meringue. We sometimes have squares after supper too, I love triple layer bars and rocky road bars. And I loved my grandma's shortbread - I'm going to miss it this year, it's the first Christmas without her.

16. What is your favorite Christmas tradition? I can only pick one? I love getting up early and opening presents with the family, taking turns and seeing what everyone else gave/got and seeing their reactions to gifts we got them.

17. What tops your tree? A star. Last year, nothing (because our star was broken)

18. Which do you prefer giving or Receiving? Both, of course lol I love giving, especially when I know I've found a really cool or 'perfect' gift for someone. But of course I love presents too - who doesn't?

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? I love Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer lol It's not Christmas until I've heard that. I love Jingle Bell Rock too.

20. Candy Canes: Yuck or Yum? Love em -especially the cherry ones.

21 Favorite Christmas Show?Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer (the TV special). Although The Polar Express comes in a very close second.

22. Saddest Christmas Song?No idea

23. What’s your Wish for Christmas. Same as last year:
