Default I need help with infant car seats

Recently our Subaru wagon died and my aunt GAVE us a 2000 Ford Focus. Very thankful to have the car, but it is TINY!!! The car seat we have will not fit in it unless no one sits in the front passenger seat. Does anyone know of some rear facing infant seats (hopefully with higher weight limits) that will fit in the back of a compact car?

I'm not sure if it would fit, but have you looked at convertible seats? I really like our Britax Decathlon though at 45 degrees it still might be a tight fit. A lot of firefighters are car seat certified and they would probably have some ideas of car seats that would work in your car.

there was a website that told which seats fit into hard-to-fit cars. Ugh. I can't remember the website. I'll try to think of it.

I drive a tiny Toyota Matrix and we use Britax Marathons -- one foreward facing and one rear facing, both with no problems! (Bonus - the straps NEVER twist on Britax Marathons, love them!)

Meegs...check out this message board: www.car-seat.org A good portion of the posters there are Child Passenger Safety Techs, a few might even be in your area and able to help you install whatever you find properly. I'm a regular over there, and the wealth of information is just invaluable!!

Seriously THE smallest backseat ever. We have one. :/

We have two of these: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cosco-Scen...Bloom/13004564 and they fit, almost take up the entire back seat but they fit.

Not sure if you'll be able to make it to a Babies R Us anytime soon, but I'm pretty sure they let you take the store models out to your car to see if it will fit. We had a Ford Focus over Thanksgiving and our Cosco convertable did NOT fit rear-facing. Luckily DS was already old and big enough to turn around.

I wanted to add that the only draw back is that it has to stay in the car, but you are not going to find a infant seat with a base to fit your Foucs without the problem you are facing now....they are just making them to big now a days which is ok...it means they are making then safer. Also because most of them now have the higher weight limit it means they are bigger too!!!

I had a 2 door Chevy Beretta until my son was 5 months. Yeah, the passenger had to sit pushed all the way to the dash, nothing else could be done. Good luck and congrats on the new car!
