Default Coach Outlet? / Purse Talk

I'm in desperate need of a new purse. I'm thinking about splurging, but the nearest Coach Outlet is an hour or so away. Is it worth it? Will I find a great deal on a purse?

If not a Coach - then what do you own? I like my bags big and I have a camel colored nine west hobo bag now, but the strap is slowly breaking. It was a TJ Maxx find. I tend to shove a lot of crap in my purse - nook, wallet, checkbook, note books, lipsticks, cell phone, keys, random crap from the girls...

I live for Coach outlet. There's a huge outlet mall in my hometown and we go every single time we're in NY, lol. Jordan loves it.

Back in September we were home in the middle of the week, so the mall was DEAD. I took advantage and popped into Coach to take a look (any other time we go there's a huge line out the door to get in, especially on the weekends). I promised I was just looking, cuz it had been a while. It was almost our anniversary, so Jordan surprised me with a new bag and wallet! It was about $400 for both I think.

I bought a black leather Coach tote bag the summer I graduated from college, as my "adult" purse for starting my new job, lol. That sucker is still going strong! There's some natural wear and tear on the straps, but otherwise she's in great condition. I still use it quite a bit. To me, the investment is 100% worth it. I paid $320 for that first one I think, so for 5.5 years of use she only cost me $58 a year. Worth it! Lol!

Totally worth the trip! I just went 2 weeks ago and came out with 2 new bags, one for work and one regular purse. I got an extra 30% off because of a holiday coupon they had at the time, so I got both bags for $240. They just make me happy.

They're probably running some nice sales right now too. Retail is always slow in Jan/Feb/March, so they try and get people in any way they can. My sister went a week or two ago and had the same experience as Rochelle. Scored 2 awesome bags for like $200, cuz of the sale PLUS they handed her an in-store coupon for 20% or 30% off.

Since I'm so fickle, I'm seriously considering Avelle (bag, borrow or steal). Some of the purses are as cheap as $30/month to rent and I can change as often as I'd like LOL. There is a green Kate Spade I'm eyeing. I had an adorable black and white polka dotted Kate Spade that I was carrying until I got my kindle for Christmas...then I needed a bigger purse. Avelle has a part where you can buy previously rented purses too!

I live less than 2 miles from one

... but I think 1 hour isn't bad for a good deal and think you should totally make the drive.

I have a Coach outlet 15 min from me!!!...totally worth it...make the drive!
Although i dont own a Coach purse YET, i always go in there to see their sales...
sometimes there is a line in there to limit the number of customers inside the store at a time...im guessing when the sale is BIG!

absolutely worth it. I have 5-6 coach bags and I ONLY have them because of taking advantage of the outlet store. In ours, there's a section in the back thats clearance, 50% off usually and then i make sure i have a coupon (google it, and also get on their mailing list) so I usually get mine for $100-125 MAX and i have some nice big ones.

OH MY GOSH!! YES... 10000000 times TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! I've even been known to plan my vacations around where there are Coach Outlets!! I'm not sure where the outlet you are looking at, but trust me, I've probably have been there.

My Coach purses are the best purchases I've made... they last forever (if taken care of properly)... even my very first one that I got in 98 after graduation from college looks brand new! If you have some time... you can sign up for their emails and they will email you sales... they usually also have sales around Martin Luther King day and President's Day. I will only buy them at outlet, never retail...

Well, I am going to hit the Boston Store tonight - they are having a big sale and I have a Gift card. If there is something I am in love with - I'll pick it up. Probably not a Coach.

I just have a really hard time spending a lot on a purse, but it is something I use every day.

I'll hit up the Outlet this weekend if something does not catch my eye at BS.

Yeah - you are in WI - I'm looking at the Johnson Creek Outlet or the Pleasant Prairie. Both are equidistant from me. So- which one is better?

I would say Pleasant Prairie... if I remember correctly, that one is a bigger store than Johnson Creek (haven't been to JC in a number of years). PP also has a really good clearance section in the back of the store, on the right side. Oh word of advice... if you see a purse you like, grab it as you are deciding... sometimes these places can be a mad house!

I've had Coach, Dooney and Bourke, and Fossil. And honestly I loved the Fossil more and thought it lasted better. The quality was great. And since Fossils costs 1/2-1/3 of the cost of a Coach, I can buy them more often. Admittedly I'm carrying a D&B right now though. We have a Fossil and Coach outlet about an hour away too. I need to make a trek out there this spring, maybe for Mother's Day

You're all making me jealous! I'm still in the diaper bag stage and my size needs change every year or so, so I've been using cheaper bags. I can't wait until all 3 are potty trained and I can treat myself to a nice bag! I have tiny Coach, Fossil, and D&B bags for when I'm out without the kids, and I love them all. Like Julie, the Fossil bags have been my favorites. My Coach and D&B bags were gifts, but my Fossils I've bought.

I have been to the Coach Outlet once in Orlando. It could be just me but it didnt seem like there was a huge discount on the stuff. There was nothing that was under 100 dollars there. I love purses but dont like spending a ton on them. My last purse I bought is HUGE. It was a Relic bag from JCPenneys which I spent 25 dollars on. Before that I bought an XOXO bag on Ebay which is really cute. I spent less then 40 on it and it is still in going strong I just wanted a change.

Yeah, I have to agree with the one in Orlando. I was there a few years ago and ended up walking out of that store with nothing. Coach isn't cheap... most bags retail is $280-and way up!... at outlet... you can usually get one (not talking about the wristlet size) for $169-$280. Of course, I have an addiction to these bags... it's the only super girly thing about me.

I LOVE Coach outlet. Last time I got mine for $140. Been carrying it for 2 years now, next time I make it to the outlet (its 2 hours away), I will be getting a new one. I bought a leather one for my mom about 6 years ago and it still looks awesome. I also have the diaper bag, it was pretty pricey, but 4 years later, its still awesome. I have also had D&B and they last just as long and are a bit cheaper.

I got a coach purse last week! It was a $400 all leather purse that I got for $100!!!! It was knocked down to $250 then it was 50% off of that then they were handing out coupons at the door for an additional 20% off. I love, love, love the coach outlets and its totally worth the hour drive to go to one. Never, ever pay full price for a new coach purse.

thirtyone bags are cute too! A girl at my work sells them.

If you are fickle, you can always check out 'gently loved' bags LOL. Case in point, I picked up a used Coach bag from the Hampton line today for $27 including shipping on eBay. Granted, I was just at the right place at the right time...logged on and it had 2 bids and 30 seconds to go....but still, you can't beat that price!

I have a leather coach bag that I carried for 2 years and it still looked new. I don't know about the fabric ones which are still very pricey but perhaps less durable, but the leather ones are awesome!

I can't justify spending that much on a purse, even if it came from the outlet. I guess I am glad that store is not in the outlet near me or I would be tempted!

i struck out at boston store. i did see a D&B purse that i liked - big, brown, slouchy and stayed on my shoulder well. i just could not justify the price tage, even with a coupon and a gift card. :/

i did see a few fossils liked, not loved, but i might as well make the trip down to pleasant prarie to hit up the coach store and the fossil outlet this weekend.

Did you know that Coach will refurbish your bags for life? You pay shipping, but that's it. What a fabulous feature! I adore Coach! All of my bags are Coach. I bought my last one at the outlet > 5 years ago and it still looks new! I've been scouting out new styles myself! Happy shopping!

That is, awesome, Amy!! I remember when you did this layout!!! I, too, scrapped about my unnatural love for the leather good...

Geez, I have to STOP looking at this thread... I really, really want a new bag now... and I agree with eBay... you can get some really nice bags and there are a number of them that are brand new that others have gone to outlet and put them up...
