Default So I guess we're potty training!

I haven't pushed this with Ella so far..just asked her now and then if she wanted to go on the big potty..she's been waking up dry more often than not but until today she adamantly refused to even try.

Well this morning the little priss followed me into the bathroom and after watching me go said "can me do it?" So I plopped her little hiney up there and she went..and then she's asked to go 3 more times today! Now I know right now it's new and we'll have some set backs but dry all day (so far) has me pretty encouraged lol

I know there are several of us with kiddos the same age..anyone else potty training this summer?

My son was potty trained this Easter. I am so glad to be done with diapers but we still experience accidents and he won't let me know when he has to go. Which means, I have to take him to the potty throughout the day.

It works for now, but I really hope he will get it soon, so I don't have to be on him all the time. I'm sure it's getting annoying for him too.

Sounds like you guys are off to a great start. How old is Ella?

I will be potty training Peyton but I tell you he has NO INTEREST!!!!! Ben was the same exact way and I think he was almost 4...Peyton will be 4 in July and my babysitter said "he is not ready yet, but he does go and hide in the corner when he poops!!!" well he is gonna be home all summer with me so I am going to try and get it done...so want to not have to buy diapers anymore!

She's 2 years and 5 months..I was going to wait another month or so but I guess we'll see how well it goes.

Avery trained right at 3..he was super easy once he decided he wanted to do it...I'm not so sure with Ella..she might be faking me out right now lol

Angie - Jake is the same way... No interest at all! He doesn't even show signs of going at all... and he was 4 in March! When he had interest, he didn't understand the "what" was going on when you sit there... now, he just doesn't want to... I'm so sick of buying diapers. My hubby told Jake that if he wants to drive, he will have to be potty trained by age 16.

I wasn't quite sure that Claire was ready, but I tried about 2 weeks ago and it went awesome!! That first day I wasn't so sure about it, but it was only the first day...around dinnertime that day something just clicked with her and she's been going on the potty ever since. We've had the occasional accident, but so far, she's been amazing to potty train!!

I'm so proud of Ella!! What a big girl!! Maybe it will be this easy to take the paci away? :/

Oh, how exciting! It's so awesome when they just decide they're ready and kinda do it themselves. I was so relieved when my DD decided she was ready (sounds like right around the same age as Ella). We still do a diaper at night (though she's gonna be ready to stop those really soon. Dry diapers for a couple days now and asking to go in the night if she needs to), and she hasn't had an accident in ages!

Crossing my fingers that it sticks and she's not "faking you out!" LOL

lol..the paci is going to be a WHOLE other story..that girl loves loves loves her pacifier. I was actually going to try to get rid of it first before potty training..but now I don't think i can do both at once so looks like she's going to get it for a little while longer at least

we keep trying with lucas but UGH! BOYS!

He IS pooping on the potty almost everytime but he could care less if he pees - which he does constantly throughout the day.

He just could care less about being wet. I'm hoping it will just click with him one day and he will want to be dry

oh woohoo! we're starting too ... juliette is good when i take her diaper off and have her run around naked - she always comes and tells me she needs to go potty (she only likes the real toilet - not her little potty) .. but if i put on a diaper to go out she has NO problem just going in it - so i'm not sure how to change that ... and i think i'm too scared to go w/ undies when we go out b/c i'm sure she'll have an accident LOL.

I haven't been pushing the issue with Grace, she's 27 months right now. Likes to be just like her sister so if big sis is in going potty, she has to go potty. Occasionally she asks to wear her big girl undies. She only wears pull-ups now, both day & night & the last few days has been going in to go #2 on her own.
She's had lots of changes in the past year, so just letting her do her own thing. We broke her from her paci, but now to soothe herself she does some 'strange' things. She still steals her brothers as often as she can get away with it though (he's 1).

She in a big girl bed too, so we're just going on her lead for the potty thing. Hopefully by the end of summer we'll be pull-up free, buying diapers for 2 is WAY more than I want to 'waste' every month.

I am!!! Raegan is doing great if I put her in her panties! If shes in a pull she doesn't care. She does have some messy panties which drives me bonkers. Nighttime is a whole different story but my boys were too!!

My son was 4 before he finally gave in. He was stubborn as all .... He knew how since around 2.5 but refused. Well once my son decided he would go on the potty(big one only) my daughter (age 2 yr 9 mons roughly) decided she wanted to potty too! But she prefered the little potty! It worked out perfectly. They both wanted to go potty at the same time. The issue became when they wanted to both go on the big potty at the same time. My daughter is a very small 4 year old and still has trouble getting on tall pottys.

That's awesome! WTG!!! We're still working with Noah on it. It's been a long road and he's still not close to being fully trained but with his developmental delays that's not a huge biggie.

Wow - that's great she's kinda starting on her own. I'm totally dreading potty training with Sadie. I hated it with my other two - ugh!

She has a little potty of her own and goes on it every now and then, but there's no consistency at all. And, she gets confused about pee-pee and poo-poo. She'll say she has poo-poo when she's really just peed in her diaper. I guess I'll try to really start training this summer, but I've honestly just been putting it off.

Belly is 2, and she knows what to do, and she hates to have on a wet or poopy diaper, she just flat out refuses to go potty. She used to, then she woke up one day and decided, nope, she didn't want to.

Lauren is about the same age, and she did the big fake out to me a few months ago. We had a few great days-not totally dry, but lots of toilet use. Then she got over the novelty. Now she uses the toilet when she wants to and every day before bed. If I try to push it, she pushes right back and refuses to go in it at all. I'm just going to wait. I think she'll train easily when she's ready, but she's not even 2.5 yet and I guess just isn't ready.

I've been desperately trying to train my middle DS with special needs, and it's not going well. For a long time he wasn't physically ready, and we just had to wait. But I think he's finally ready and is just being lazy about it now. With his motor issues and sensory processing disorder, he doesn't seem to care if he's wet. The teachers in his special ed class aren't having much luck either, which at least makes me feel a little better that he's reacting that way to people with lots of experience, too. This summer we're going hard core and will be trying anything and everything that might work.
