Okay, so I've done a couple of small hybrid projects and realized I really like doing them... I want to do more, but I want them to be EASY and cheap.
I made a Merry Christmas Banner using the template I think Col made for the Cookies 4 Kids last year, and I've also made something very much like these: ![]() using Heather's template. Does anyone have any other easy and cheap hybrid ideas? I've found out that I really love seeing a printed, assembled product... but I'm really not good at hybrid, and I really can't afford much past scissors, glue, and tape (MAYBE I can swing a few extra supplies or two. Maybe).

I look on pinterest all the time for inspiration. Cards are usually an easy and cheap hybrid. And wall hangings.
I really want to do more hybrid stuff so that's my goal for Christmas presents...HYBRID gifts. I feel like I should start now though lol.

See? This is the sort of thing I'm thinking about. I found a really cute and easy homemade kool aid lip balm, and figured I could hybrid up some labels for it or something, but other than that I'm lost (the lip balm is super easy, btw... you take 1 C Petroleum jelly, and melt it at 30 second intervals for about 7-8 minutes until it's Liquid... it'll be SUPER hot. Then, mix in the flavor of kool aid you want. You have to be careful because some of them tint your lips... but strawberry or cherry work really well. You just keep mixing until it's totally dissolved, may have to microwave the petroleum jelly again... then pour it into the little pots, which you can buy at craft stores, and add a label). But otherwise... I don't know what else to do! :P

Bath salts, calenders, wall hangings, dry erase boards, post-it note holders. I use the acrylic frames for the dry erase boards and post-it holders. Super cheap at walmart.
I'm trying to think of what else I thought about doing. *oh thought of a few...brag books, picture frames (buy the wooden or paper mache ones from the craft store and alter them or a regular frame and alter it), use an element from a kit to make a frame with.

Those are some good ideas. How would you go about the post-it holders? How well would they hold up?
I also thought about making these: ![]() and these: ![]()

I don't want to share a pic as it isnt with SSD stuff, but I have made, every year, pocket calendars for my mother and mother in law... you know the ones you can get for a buck at just about any store near the end of the year? Then you just measure and make a mini LO, keeping in mind where the front and back would be, print it and insert it. Then they have cute stuff of the grand kids to look at all year
![]() You can pick up coasters (the paper"ish" kind) at a restaurant and print and mod podge em and make coaster sets. You can make cards, but also sets of cards for people. Little paper mache keepsake boxes Oh and for dh I always do a CD calendar for his desk at work every year as well. I LOVE your lip balm idea, thanks for sharing how to make it!

Those are good ideas. I found some cheap tile the other day... I think that would make a good coaster.
I also hadn't thought of making sets of cards for people! I had only thought of making cards to SEND to people.

I really want to do little homemade spa baskets for my 2 daughters and maybe one for my mom and grandma.
Any ideas of a kit to use for stuff. And what all to put in them? You could even do post cards or note card sets for people. Oh or recipe boxes with cards.

If you liked Heather's popcorn boxes, you really should try more of her templates too - they're all easy to make, and require just card, scissors & adhesive to assemble.
Try one of these next for gift ideas maybe: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I particularly love the tote box at the top as it makes a fun tool box or lunch box idea, plus the simple mini album with the pizza box to keep it in is just fab. You should definitely check out Pintrest, but also don't forget the Hybrid Gallery here too 'cos its full of good ideas, with the HUGE advantage that if you want to know how something is done in detail, you can always pm the person who made it! |

I have quite a few of Heather's templates, they are super easy to use!

Holly, I totally thought about pinning them, but I honestly felt like I wouldn't use them, so I didn't pin them. I've been trying to see if I come across any of those again, and so far, I haven't, but I'll try to keep looking for you and let you know of anything I find.

I found this one. And Holly, it's not at ALL spa-theme related, but I thought you might like it, too, so I decided to post here:
Cupcake Take-Along How cute!

This is going to sound crazy and sad...but....confession time... I've already started planning Kennedy's first birthday (She's 4 1/2 months old) ![]() And I'm thinking of going with a cupcake theme or candyland/willy wonka (yay for the Traci/KCB scoop)

Ummmm...I have super easy pinwheel templates coming out....TONIGHT!!! hehe
And the post-it note holders that Sara posted above along with my cupcake wrappers are probably some of the simplest projects around...all you need are paper, scissors, tape/glue and either post it note pads or home-baked cupcakes! hehe Seriously though, most of my projects are heavy on the paper part...meaning most of them don't require loads of other "stuff". What about covering paint cans or those clear sided paint cans or even canned fruit cans - use as gift holders (with tissue sticking out the top), or pencil holders or utensil holders - all of that stuff just requires a strip of paper around the container. So many cute projects - too many to think about! I LOVE hybrid! ![]() Last edited by Heather Roselli; 07-01-2011 at 08:58 PM. |

Holly, Elijah is 2 1/2 months old and I'm already thinking about what I can print out for his first birthday. I'm also thinking willy wonka...maybe we can brainstorm and walk each other through it.
