so today was monkey's first day of preschool.
to say it did not go well is an understatement

i'm sure she's fine by now, but good lord, seeing her bawl and try to get out the door as i had to walk away. hardest. thing. ever.

I went through the same thing last week. The look on her face when she realized I wouldn't be STAYING with her at preschool broke my heart. And then (per the teacher's instructions) I had to stoically turn and walk down the hall, the whole while hearing her screaming for Mommy. I can tell you, 9 days into it, today was the best day. It does get better, hun. But I know how hard it is...believe me I know. She'll love telling you how her day was when you pick her up, though!

My kindergartener didn't cry when I dropped him off the first day, but cried several times during the school day and a couple times the next. He also came home the first day and reported that he hadn't made any friends yet. Talk about a knife to Mommy's heart! By the end of the week, he was making it through the day without tears and found his first friend Still not thrilled about going to school, but it's getting better! I feel your pain... and I know my three year old will NOT be happy about being dropped off for her first day of preschool tomorrow, so I'm not looking forward to that!

Awww.

I was the complete opposite. (I didn't do preschool) My first day of kindergarten I was like "See ya later mom!" I was ready to go. My best friend (who I met the first day of K) was the one that crying and wouldn't let her mom go. So I went over and made her my friend and she was ok.

That is hard, but it's the best thing. The longer the parent stays, the longer the child cries. 99% of the time, they stop within a few minutes. Here's hoping it gets easier...it might be a week or two, but it will get better!

Aww I know how you feel! My oldest was the one who did that to me. It was so heartbreaking! But I did find out from the teacher that he was always perfectly fine after I was gone. I hope she had a fabulous day! ((hug))

Awww. Hope the day ended up better & tomorrow goes smoothly.

We are on day 4, Anna is okay with us leaving, but her sister misses her a lot when she's at school, it's harder to pull her away from school than it is to leave the oldest.

she said she liked it, and she had lots of 'fwens.' she did however tell me that she's still going to cry tomorrow! LOL
she makes it SO hard because she says she's gonna miss me and that she loves me so much when i'm gone. i think she'll get better as the week goes on, i really do. she's started this weird separation anxiety thing the past couple months so this is definitely something she (and me too) needs.

i just gotta breathe deep and walk away. my mom said my brother was the same way. :/

This is Max. Exactly. Last year I ended up sending him just 3 days a week because he was only 2, and I figured I can do whatever I want. It's not like he HAS to have school. I asked him WHY he cried when he has so much fun, and he said, "I Just miss you, Mommy." SOB!

This year it's been seven months of tears, but FINALLY it just stopped this month. It's a total killer, but knowing they're having fun, making friends, learning stuff is worth the little bit of drama in the morning.

I hope it gets better!

this afternoon was better. she was ALL smiles, until her teacher came to the door to bring them in (they meet at the front of the school and the teacher walks them to the classroom). she saw her teacher come to the door and started crying...albeit a LOT less and less hysterically than yesterday. she did go in with the aide and i couldn't hear her so i'm assuming she was ok.

i did stay and talk to her teacher for a few minutes and she said she was so cute yesterday. she was doing that hyperventilaty sobbing thing that you do when you're crying really hard, telling her 'i trying to stop! i twying! i just can't!' LOL she said she was fine though. she took a ton of pics of her yesterday bc she told her 'you're mom's never going to believe this!' lol

SO glad i know her teacher!

Awww...bless her little heart! Like everyone has said, it will eventually get easier, but man it's a tough thing to go through as a mom. Hang in there!
